It’s been an incredible week of mountain bike action, and we’re back to bring you the all the results from the dramatic Val di Sole World Cup, the Big White Slopestyle Invitational, the Asturias Bike Race and the latest round of the UCI cross country marathon series in the French alps. Oh and a certain race down a glacier, the Mega Avalance. The Womens race was nail-bitingly close with Rachel Atherton pipped to the top spot by Tahnee Seagrave by less than a tenth of a second. Myriam Nicole didn’t start after an injury in qualifying. The Mens race was another amazing performance from Amaury Pierron, who stormed to his third World Cup win in a row, whilst the podium was rounded out by Laurie Greenland and Danny Hart. Pierron looks to have a strong lead in the overall series lead ahead of his team’s home race in Andorra next week. The rocky Cross Country course in Val di Sole provided plenty of spills and thrills, with the UCI series leader Annika Langvad crashing out at the beginning of the race with an injured wrist, whilst an imperial Maja Wloszczowsk rode away from the elite group to take her first World Cup victory since 2012. In the elite men’s race Schurter of course dominated once more, although this time he was given a strong challenge by Matthieu Van Der Poel and the young Italian Kerschbaumer racing on home soil. The Big White Invitational was hosted this weekend by Tom van Steenbergen in Kelowna, Canada, and yet again was a showcase for the incredible talents of Nicholi Rogatkin. Can he keep this amazing run going until Whistler in August? The UCI MTB Marathon Series went over the tough Mont Blanc course on saturday with a killer 140km course, with 7000m of climbing. Urs Huber won the mens event, with Florence Darbellay taking home victory in the womens. The first ever MMR Asturias Bike race attracted a huge field of competitors for the three day competition. Victor Manuel Fernandez used his consistency over the three days to seize victory whilst the elite womens race was won by Monica Carrascosa.
