Removing and replacing pedals is an important bike maintenance skill to learn. A nice set of quality pedals is often one of the first upgrades people make to a bike, it can be handy if you are traveling with a bike, as you will need to remove and reinstall the pedals or so you can experiment with fitting the two different pedal styles, clipped in (known as Clipless) or flat pedals..
