In the men's race Aaron Gwin crashed out of contention in the infamous woods section and a surprise winner took his first World Cup win beating many experienced riders. The midweek Prague Stairs event attracted many of the XC stars after Nové Město, with the punchy climbs and steep descents providing an exhilarating spectacle. In the Profixx Swiss Bike Cup Granichen it was World Champion Jolanda Neff who continued to demonstrate her stellar form whilst a puncture dealt a blow to Nino Schurter’s hopes of victory, with a pair of BMC riders taking the top two spots on the podium. Round five of the Three Nations Cup took place in Erezee in Belgium with a technical course creating a large winning margin for Frenchman Pierre de Froidmont. The Mythic Chrono XC race kicked off the start of the mountain bike season in the south of France with a former Olympic Champion taking the honours.
