Carbon MTB Wheels In The Workshop & On The Trail | GMBN's First Look At The ENVE M6 & M7 Series Rims

Published on November 26th 2017

Carbon wheel sets have become increasingly popular in recent years due to the lightweight strength and stiffness allowed with the material. Looking at mountain bike wheels on the whole over the last few years, one trend is clear, wider rims. A wide rim offers the tyre more stability at the low pressures available (and now favoured) thanks to tubeless and boost technology. The Enve M6 and M7 wheels are really spearheading development into the realms of carbon fibre wheel tech. Enve are taking their wide rim platform and developing them further with some interesting anti-pinch flat technology. Wider sidewalls are utilised to absorb impacts better and provide strength throughout the wheel and tyre whilst on the M7 a dedicated rim-strip helps to work to isolate the tyre from anything happening to the rim itself. To help get our heads around how this all works, Neil will be riding them on the trail, seeing how they feel over varied rocky terrain at several different tyre pressures. Doddy will be taking an up close look and breaking down some tech know-how in the workshop! Subscribe to GMBN: Exclusive Black Friday Range!
